Aloha! Principal O'Brien recently announced that E.B. deSilva Elementary will be offering a Pre-K Summer Program for summer 2017. The program is designed for incoming Kindergarteners who have little or no preschool experience. The goal of the program is to help Pre-K students develop skills and school experience to prepare them for a successful Kindergarten year. Interest form is attached and the deadline for submitting is Friday, February 10th. Please call the school office for more information at 974-4855.

Aloha, Parents and students: Hilo Viking Robotics Club will be hosting the Winter Camp Eureka for students 8-14 years of age from Dec. 27-30. The interactive 4 day camp will focus on structure based on hawaiian structures as well as building robots. Space is limited, so sign up quickly!
This event is a fundraiser for the Hilo Viking Robotics Club.

Students in grades 4-12, parents and teachers of any grade level are invited to attend the FREE Astronaut Ellison Onizuka Science Day on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at UH Hilo. Among this year's highlights are: a selection from 18 science workshops, 18 interactive displays, TMT VEX IQ robotics tournament finals, Diffraction of Light Extravaganza, and an Astronaut Keynote speaker. This year's event promises to be great. Spaces will be filling quickly, so sign-up for best chances to attend!
Aloha! If you have a special talent or skill that you would like to share with our students, our EdVenture Program is looking for you! We are looking to hire instructors for our after school enrichment program for the Spring 2017 semester. Arts, crafts, gardening, sports, dance, fitness, voice, science, & technology are the different types of talents and skills we are looking for. HO HO HO! Christmas Craft Night is coming to E.B. de Silva! Please join us on Friday, December 9, 2016 from 5-6 p.m. in the cafeteria as we have fun making a variety of Christmas crafts. We'll have some to keep, some to give, and maybe one or two to munch on! We will have one craft project- a reindeer ornament - that will require you to bring a head shot (photo) of your child that is 2 -2 1/2 inches in diameter to complete. If you wish to forward a digital copy of your photo, please submit to: cecily_nago/DESILVA/HIDOE@notes.k12.hi.us by December 7th and we will have it printed and ready for you at the event. Response required if you plan to attend. Please complete the reg form and turn it into your child's homeroom teacher. (Hardcopies will be sent home shortly!)
