A+ Afterschool Program at E.B. - Important info

Aloha, Parents:
Sharing information from A+ Director Cory Rapoza:
        For those interested in enrolling your student(s) in the A+ Afterschool Program at E.B. deSilva please note the following deadlines and effective policies:
                *  May 26th, 2017 is the deadline to submit your A+ application for the next school year.  Students whose parents/guardians have NOT submitted an application, will not be able to                                     participate in the A+ Program at deSilva.  Planning is currently underway for a registration event - date to be announced
                *  Registration fee will be increasing to $110.00 starting in August 2017.
                *  Registration MUST be paid before the first day of school, or your student will not be able to start.

Fund Run Reminder

Aloha, Parents!  A reminder from FunRun Chair, Aileen Correa:  Fund Run Monies and forms are due in tomorrow, May 11th.  Students will need to turn in their participation form with signatures in order to join their classmates in the fund run, even if they will not be collecting pledges.  Please see the attached form for additional information.  Mahalo!

2017 HCC Summer classes

The Office of Continuing Education at Hawaii Community College has just released information regarding the 2017 HCC Summer line-up of classes for students in grades K-12.  Classes include:  Summer Youth Academy, Black Rocket, Summer Career Explorations, CyberPatriot, GenCyber & Summer Engineering Academy.  Scholarships are available on a limited basis through a grant from the Hawaii Community Foundation that will cover up to $325 for each qualified participant.  Course catalog and scholarship application are attached.  Hurry!  Space is limited and on a first come, first saved basis.

Spring 2017 EdVenture Showcase and PTA GMM

SAVE THE DATE!  Please join us at the Spring 2017 EdVenture Showcase and PTA General Membership Meeting on Tuesday, May 16th from 4:45 - 6:15 p.m.  Performances by students enrolled in the various dance classes, JR Iron Chef food sampling and a mini VEW Robotics competition will be features.  There will be a short 10 minute PTA meeting, with voting of next year's PTA leadership.  For more information, please contact Cecily Nago, PCNC at 974-4855 ext. 301.  Hope to see you there!

HIS Schedule pick-up for 2017-2018 SY

Aloha, Parents/ Guardians and outgoing 6th graders:

Hilo Intermediate School has released the following information regarding their Annual Schedule pick-up:

Day/Date:  Tuesday, July 25, 2017

Location:  Hilo Intermediate's Building A Auditorium

Time:  8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Purpose:  Pay student fees, pick up course schedule, familiarize self with where specific scheduled classes will be, purchase school uniforms, bus applications, lunch accounts, info and registration for afterschool programs, etc.

Note:  Once transition in the SIS occurs in June for the new 17-18 SY, and SchoolConnects/SynreVoice synchs, we will also be sending out numerous reminders via phone/e-mail prior to the event.

Easter Craft Night at E.B. deSilva

Aloha!  Hope everyone enjoys their Spring Break!  It's a great time to just relax and spend time with our families.  Easter will be here before we know it and we would like to invite our E.B. Super Bee Families to  join us for a hopping good time at our next Family Focus Event.  Easter Craft Night will be held on Thursday, April 13th, 2017 from 5-6 pm in the cafeteria.  Back by popular demand will be our Easter Egg Dip Dye station where families bring their hard-boiled eggs (6 per child), and we provide the dyes and the paper towels.  We will also have 6 craft projects and a surprise edible craft for students to choose from.  Craft projects are limited to 4 per student.  E.B. families only  - please.  Younger siblings of EB students are allowed.  See attached form for additional information.  Hard copies will be sent home when the students get back to school after the Spring Break.  Hope to see you there!

THINK Day of Discovery Event at WIS

Aloha!  Waiakea Intermediate School will be hosting the first THINK Day of Discovery (An Exploration of Careers in STEM) on April 8, 2017 for students in grades 3-8.  Registration fee is $20.00 per student and one parent on a first come, first served basis.  Students must be accompanied by a parent to participate.  Please see attached flyer for more information.

Sunrise Athletics Fun Run & Obstacle Course

Aloha!  Sunrise Athletics invites all keiki in Elementary school grades 1-5 to participate in a FREE Fun Run and Obstacle Course Combo at the Waiakea High School Stadium/Track on Saturday, March 18, 2017.  Registration starts at 8:00 am, followed by warm up and stretching.  Fun run will start at 9:10 a.m.  Please see attached flyer for more details!  Hope to see you there!

Hilo Viking Robotics Camp Eureka Spring 2017

Hilo Viking Robotics will be hosting its Spring 2017 Camp Eureka March 20-24, 2017.  Morning sessions will be held form 8 am - noon, with afternoon sessions from 1-5 pm.
